Sometimes I think, maybe I won’t write? A lot of people don’t write, and they seem fine. And then after a while, I start to feel itchy and weird, and remember that I need to write the way some people need to take an iron supplement, or in more serious cases, get an iron infusion.
I’ve emerged from a transitional life phase ready for more words, and over the next few weeks/months, I’ll be infusing the second draft of Hannelore’s story. I’m excited to work on it, but I’m not looking forward to seeing what I actually did to that poor first draft in the flurry of writing. A feeling I know many writers are well acquainted with.

Argentina
One of the things I did while not writing these past few months was spend ten days in Argentina, which I’ve wanted to visit ever since my college courses on Latin American literature. It’s the land of great authors like Jorge Luis Borges and my favorite, Julio Cortázar. (If you haven’t already, take two minutes to read this very short story that blew my undergraduate mind.)
It was summer in Argentina, and the people were incredibly friendly, and their Spanish was surprisingly easy for me to understand. If it weren’t for the diet that consists almost entirely of steak and bread, eaten at 9pm, I’d probably move to the little town we visited, just north of Buenos Aires.
Please admire these photos of animals I met, plus some other things.
